Trove Player
Native local music player for iOS and Mac that plays FLAC, ALAC, APE and DSD from your library or NAS
About this launch

Trove Player is a native local music player built for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It plays your audio files as they are—FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, MP3, AAC, APE, OGG, OPUS, WMA, DSD and more than 15 formats total—directly from on-device storage, the Files app, or streamed over WebDAV or SMB from a NAS on your own network. There is no re-encoding, uploading or account required.
The app includes gapless playback, word-by-word synced lyrics from LRC files or embedded tags, a 10-band equalizer with named presets, ReplayGain volume leveling, and a reorderable play queue. On iPhone it offers CarPlay for the car and background playback; on Mac there is a menu bar mini player, media key support and a floating lyrics window. The Apple Watch app plays transferred songs offline without the iPhone.
Trove is free to download and use for local music. A one-time Pro unlock at $9.99 adds network sources (WebDAV, SMB, Google Drive and MEGA), Apple Watch sync, tag writing, smart playlists and custom library tabs. A Pro Supporter tier at $24.99 adds eight experimental audio tools. Both are one-time purchases tied to your Apple Account, work across all your devices and include Family Sharing.

Shopper questions
Is Trove a local music player for iOS?
Yes. Trove is a native local music player for iOS 17 and later on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and also on Mac since September 2026. It plays audio files you own—MP3, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, APE, WAV, AIFF, OGG, OPUS, DSD and more than 15 formats—directly from on-device storage, from the Files app, or streamed over WebDAV or SMB from a NAS on your own network. Nothing is uploaded, no account is created, and no track is re-encoded. Playback is gapless, lyrics sync word by word from embedded or LRC files, and the app is free to download with a one-time Pro unlock rather than a subscription.
How much does Trove cost?
Trove is free to download and free to keep using: every format, gapless playback, the 10-band equalizer, the sleep timer, folder and Wi-Fi import, playlists and synced lyrics are all in the free app. Trove Pro is a one-time $9.99 purchase that unlocks network sources (WebDAV, SMB, Google Drive and MEGA), Apple Watch sync, writing tags back to your files, smart playlists, custom library tabs on iPhone, the floating desktop lyrics window on Mac, and tap-to-sync lyrics editing. Trove Pro Supporter at $24.99 includes Pro plus four alternate app icons, accent colours and eight experimental audio tools. Both are paid once with no subscription or trial timer, and one purchase covers every platform because the unlock is tied to your Apple Account rather than to a device. Both are also enabled for Family Sharing for up to six people.
Can I share Trove Pro with my family?
Yes. Both in-app purchases—Trove Pro and Trove Pro Supporter—are enabled for Family Sharing, so one purchase can be shared with your family group of up to six people at no extra cost. Each person uses their own Apple Account and their own library; they simply get the Pro features unlocked.
Do the audio tools upload my music?
Audio processing is local by default. The local transcription model downloads only when you request it. Optional remote transcription needs a compatible service, model and API key that you configure; only a selected clip is sent after you confirm its destination and possible provider charges. There is no automatic remote fallback.
Is Trove 2.3.1 available?
Trove 2.3.1 is available on the US iOS and Mac App Stores, checked separately on October 31, 2026. Update from the App Store for the Mac startup fix, improved SMB connections and Apple Watch transfer fixes. Availability can vary by region.
Trove Player has a free listing. The owner can unlock the full profile with a paid launch for $5:
