The Podcast App
Free podcast player with no app-inserted ads and AI features for listeners
A free podcast player for iOS and Android with no app-inserted ads, unlimited offline downloads, OPML support, and optional AI features that are free with usage
About this launch
The Podcast App is an independent podcast player for iOS and Android built by Magnolia Apps. The core player is free and includes unlimited offline downloads, OPML import and export, speed controls, chapters, CarPlay and Android Auto support, and Apple Watch compatibility—all without requiring an account to start.
The app has no app-inserted ads, though host-read audio already in podcast files may still play. Smart Ad-Skip is available free with a daily cap on supported shows, letting users skip marked ad segments with one tap.
Podcast Brain, an AI feature that allows users to ask questions across their listening history with citations, is free with usage caps. A $4.99/month paid plan lifts usage caps on Smart Ad-Skip and AI features but does not unlock the core player or offline downloads.

Shopper questions
Is The Podcast App free?
Yes, the core player is free with unlimited offline downloads, OPML, chapters, and car features. No account required to start. Smart Ad-Skip is free with a daily server-set cap on supported shows. A $4.99/month plan lifts usage caps on Smart Ad-Skip and AI features but does not unlock the core player.
Can I listen to podcasts offline for free?
Yes. Unlimited offline downloads are part of the free core with no download quota and no paid unlock. Download episodes on Wi-Fi, and play them anywhere without signal.
Can I move my podcasts from another app?
Yes, with OPML. Export a file from Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Overcast, or AntennaPod, then import on the Switch page. OPML moves public RSS subscriptions, but downloads and playback positions stay in the old app.
Is Podcast Brain free?
Yes, Podcast Brain is free with usage caps. It answers questions about transcript-backed episodes you have heard with citations, and the free tier includes a daily allowance. The $4.99/month plan lifts those caps but never gates listening.
Does no app-inserted ads mean podcasts have no ads?
No. The app does not insert ads. Host-read audio already in the file can still play. That is creator inventory, not app inventory. Smart Ad-Skip is a tap to the end of a marked segment on supported shows. All features are free with usage caps (free daily transcripts and chats). $4.99/month lifts those caps only.
The Podcast App has a free listing. The owner can unlock the full profile with a paid launch for $5:
