InstaScript is a free browser-based transcription tool that turns video and audio files into timestamped text. Upload MP4, MOV, WebM, MP3, WAV, M4A, or OGG files up to 100 MB, or paste a public Instagram URL to fetch and transcribe. The tool extracts audio and runs it through Whisper, an open-source speech recognition model developed by OpenAI, which runs locally in your browser using transformers.js.
File processing happens entirely in your browser—no app to install, no account to create, and no payment required. Your local files never leave your device. Transcriptions are generated with start and end times for each segment, and can be downloaded as plain text, SRT, or VTT subtitle formats, or copied to clipboard. The tool supports English audio only and processes long recordings in chunks of about 30 seconds.

Does InstaScript support non-English audio?
Speech recognition supports English only. Detected non-English speech is rejected; an uncertain or failed language check stops processing with a separate error and creates no transcript.
