Fluence converts your PDFs, ebooks, reports and saved articles into audio files that you can listen to on your phone. The app highlights each sentence as it is spoken, allowing you to follow along, bookmark lines and write notes. You can choose from a built-in voice that reads 31 languages, or create your own voice from a recording you make yourself.
The app can answer questions about your documents by drawing from the text itself and showing you the relevant passages. Fluence prepares audio for entire documents while you do something else. All processing happens on your device with no data sent to servers, and your library, notes and recorded voice stay on your phone.
You can open PDFs, EPUB files, Word documents, OpenDocument, Rich Text, slides, text, Markdown and web articles. A one-time payment of €14.99 buys the full version permanently, and you can use it on every phone you sign into with the same Google account. Ten documents are free to try first.

Does it work offline?
Yes. Once a voice is on your phone, reading, listening and asking all work with the network off, including in a plane or underground.
What has to be downloaded?
The voice that reads to you comes with the app. The model that answers questions is larger and downloads once when you first ask for it, then stays on your phone.
Can it read French, German or Spanish?
The built-in voice reads 31 languages including French, and Fluence automatically detects the document language. Your own recorded voice reads English.
How do I move to a new phone?
Sign in with the same Google account and reinstall. Your purchase travels with you. For your library, notes and reading positions, make an encrypted backup on the old phone and restore it on the new one.
