Kernsetzer
Book formatting software for self-publishers
Desktop app that converts manuscripts from Word or Markdown into print-ready PDFs and EPUB 3 files for self-publishers on Windows, macOS and Linux.
About this launch

Kernsetzer is book formatting software for self-publishers that runs on Windows, macOS and Linux as an offline desktop app. You provide a manuscript from Word or Markdown, and Kernsetzer produces a print-ready PDF for print-on-demand services like KDP and IngramSpark, plus an EPUB 3 for ebook stores. The software handles layout of running heads, chapter openers, page numbers, margins and gutter based on your chosen trim size and design. It includes professional typography features, setting quotation marks and dashes correctly for both English and German, and breaking long compound words appropriately. Your manuscript remains on your computer throughout the process.
