The Passport Photo Maker is an independent online service that helps you create compliant passport and visa photos from your phone. You take a photo at home against a plain wall, upload it, and the tool checks it against the official requirements for your specific document—checking size, head height, background, eyes, lighting and other rules. The check is free and happens on your device. You only pay if the photo passes and you want to download the file: $4.99 for the digital file or $6.99 for the digital file plus a 4×6 inch print sheet. If your photo is rejected by an issuing authority for something the tool should have caught, you get a full refund.

Shopper questions

Is this an official government service?

No. The Passport Photo Maker is an independent company that prepares photos according to published requirements. Only the authority that issues your document can approve your application.

Can I wear glasses in my passport photo?

Not for U.S. passports—glasses have not been allowed since 2016, except with a signed medical statement. Other countries have their own rules, which the tool checks for the document you choose.

What happens to my photo after I upload it?

Your photo is checked in your browser. Only when you click to create your file does a cropped copy go to the server. Unpaid files are deleted after 24 hours; purchased files stay available to download for one year, then are deleted.

Is there a subscription fee?

No. It is a one-time payment per photo. There is no account plan, no recurring charge and nothing to cancel.

Why can't I buy a Canada or Australia photo?

Canada requires prints stamped by a commercial studio and Australia requires dye-sublimation prints on 200 gsm paper. For those documents, only the free pre-submission check is offered because selling a file would be selling something that cannot work.
