Ortha CMS
A headless CMS you run yourself with an AI assistant that asks before it acts
Open-source, self-hosted headless CMS with content types in TypeScript, PostgreSQL storage, REST/GraphQL APIs, and an AI assistant with permission controls.
About this launch

Ortha CMS is an open-source, self-hosted headless content management system that lets teams define content types as TypeScript code, which automatically generate PostgreSQL tables. It provides a visual editor for non-technical users, with features including multilingual content, version history, publication approval workflows, and content validation rules.
Content is delivered through REST, GraphQL, or MCP protocols using the same permissions and API token. An AI assistant is built into the editor and holds exactly the user's own permissions, asking for approval before making changes. The system supports separate workspaces for different brands or clients, with granular role-based access control and comprehensive audit logging.
Ortha CMS runs on your own infrastructure with your own PostgreSQL database and storage. Media files stay on local disk or in S3-compatible, Azure, Google Cloud, or Vercel buckets—never in the database. Every capability is a plugin using the same public API, including webhooks, mail delivery, segments, and integrations with external AI agents.

Shopper questions
Is it really free?
Yes, in production too. Every feature is in the MIT core with no time limit and no cap on people, records, API calls or bandwidth. A paid plan buys support, not features.
Where does content live?
In your own PostgreSQL database and your own storage. You can query it, back it up or move it any time.
Can non-technical people use it?
Yes. Writers, editors and translators do everything in the admin without touching code.
What can the AI assistant see?
Only what the person using it can see. It holds exactly that person's permissions and asks for approval before making changes.
What are the system requirements?
PostgreSQL 16 and Node.js 22. No search cluster, message broker or cache needed.
