Metapodcast is a free podcast app for iOS and Android that helps you get more from what you listen to. You can listen to full episodes or concise audio briefs, search inside episode transcripts to find exactly what was said, and ask questions to get answers that point back to the specific moment with timestamps.

The app includes analyzed episodes with timestamped transcripts, key takeaways, and the ability to ask questions and get cited answers. You can search what was actually said inside a single episode or across the entire show catalog, with every result carrying the timestamp so you can play it. The platform also lets you follow topics, people, or shows and get notified when new episodes cover them.

Search and episode pages are available on the web as well. The app features offline downloads, background playback, a queue you can customize, and push notifications for the topics and shows you follow.

Shopper questions

Is Metapodcast free?

Yes. The iOS and Android apps are free to download and use. You can listen, read takeaways, search transcripts, and ask questions without a subscription. Browsing and search on the web are free too, and you can look around before creating an account.

Can I search inside podcast transcripts?

Yes. Most podcast apps only search show titles and descriptions. Metapodcast searches what was actually said. You can search within a single episode or across shows, and each result carries the timestamp it came from so you can play it.

How does Ask work?

You ask a question about an episode or a subject. Metapodcast retrieves relevant transcript passages, writes an answer from them, and lists the episode segments it used, with timestamps. You can open any source to read the passage in context or play that part of the audio.

Are answers cited?

Yes. Answers list the episode segments they were built from, with timestamps you can open and check. AI-generated summaries and answers can still be wrong or miss context, which is exactly why we show you the source rather than asking you to take the answer on trust.

Can I get notified when a topic comes up?

Yes. Follow a topic, person, or show and Metapodcast watches new episodes across the catalog. Matches arrive as push notifications in the app and as email alerts, which can be sent through the day, as a daily digest, or weekly, with nothing sent overnight.
