What does the domain age checker show?

The free domain age checker looks up public domain records and shows registration dates, expiry, registrar details and more.

Updated

Check any domain for free

The domain age checker at /domain-age-checker needs no account. Type in a bare domain, a subdomain or a full web address—whichever you use, we look up the registered domain itself.

You'll see the public registration record from the registry: how old the domain is in years, months and days, when it was registered and when it expires, the date it last changed, which registrar holds it, whether DNSSEC is signed, and the nameservers. The page tells you when we checked the record.

Domain info on every listing

Each listing here shows a Domain info box under its metrics. It displays the same record for that company's own domain: age, registered and expiry dates, registrar and DNSSEC status, with a link to the full record on the domain age checker. We refresh that record about once a week.

Where the data comes from

We pull everything from the registry's public RDAP record (RDAP replaced the older WHOIS system). Some registries, including a number of country-code registries, don't publish RDAP data—if that's the case, we'll say so on the page. If a registry doesn't respond, try again in a few minutes.

What domain age means

The age counts from the current registration date. If a domain lapsed and was registered again, the clock restarts from the new date. Domain age doesn't affect how we order listings on this site.

Questions people ask

Do I need an account to use the domain age checker?
No. The domain age checker at /domain-age-checker is free and open to everyone.
Why does the domain info show nothing?
Some registries, including many country-code registries, don't publish their RDAP data publicly. If the registry does answer but we get no response, wait a few minutes and try again.
Does a domain's age change how listings rank here?
No. Domain age plays no part in the order we show listings.
